Saints Row: The Musical

This guy has done one of the funniest game videos I've seen all year. It's a very creative tribute to a sort of buggy game for the Xbox 360 called Saints Row.

Here's the link to his original post, with a better quality version of the vid.

Wii!

I have one. Craig, Chris and I got up at the crack of dawn Sunday morning, and waited in line at Target on the north side, and were numbers 23-25 in line.

The store we found out was getting 33, so we were happy.

After getting our tickets...

...at 7am, we walked to the McDonald's across the parking lot, and had some breakfast. Then we walked back over, picked up our Wiis, and went to Craig's to play.

Head to ActionCorp for our impressions of the Wii.

A Large Turtle

So this is the turtle we saw as we were travelling in Jacksonville near Regan's house over the weekend. It was REALLY big, and weighed easily 12-15 pounds. He also dumped some water on me in a panic when I picked him up. He was on the road and was not going to be able to get off because there were high curbs.. so Regan pulled over, and I grabbed him.

Vacation was fun. I'll put up more pictures in a bit.

Checking In...

This has been a strange few months. I haven't posted since JULY! The loyal readers of sethcheek.com deserve better...

Tuesday and I are back in my old place. (Tuesday is my cat.) I'm still working at the station as the Web Manager. We're getting back into the swing of things with ActionCorpTV, finally. I'm heading down south to visit Regan soon. Things are good.

Remember that massive site overhaul I talked about in the post below. It may happen. It may not. It's not like anyone comes here anyway! But now that I have some more time to myself, I might just push myself to get it done. This isn't too super-professional, I know. But what blog is?

I've actually thought of doing some sort of independent audio-only podcast on my site, just about the ramblings I have of the day. Maybe record it in the car on the way home or something. But man, even the people I KNOW don't want to hear my random ramblings. Why would strangers or casual site visitors give a crap?!

I'm waiting patiently for Splinter Cell: Double Agent, and impatiently for the demo that they REALLY should put out soon.

Out With the New, In With the Old

Alright, for the two of you that read this site, here's what happened (if you don't already know). Lindsay, my girlfriend for the last four years, and I split last month, and I moved in with my parents for a while to get back on my feet. Didn't really feel like broadcasting it at the time, don't feel like going into it now.

So for the last few weeks, I've been looking for a place to live. I looked at some places on the east side, some places downtown, then I remembered that my landlords from my old place had several properties that they rented out. So I gave them a call, and asked if they had anything available.

They told me that not only was something opening up in ten days, but it was MY old apartment. I LOVED that apartment. It was HUGE, and I had a lot of fun down there.

So today, I go sign the lease, and I begin moving in this weekend. I'll be recruiting Craig and Sean to help me.

If you knew me 4-5 years ago, you'll know the place. I'll put up some pictures of it later today when I go down to sign.

Sorry to be so cryptic with my last message. I just didn't feel like chatting about it.

Big Changes (in Several Things)

As some people may already know, I'm going through some MAJOR life changes now. I won't go into them now, but will talk more about it as things start to calm down.

What that means for this site is that it might not be messed with for a while. I know, I know. For those of you that come to this site often (I don't know of any), they'll notice I don't necessarily update this thing all the time, anyway.

Well, when I come back, I want to put more time into it. I'm now the number one search term when 'seth cheek' is typed into Google now! My guess is that has a lot to do with Blackbolt putting my site on his Links page at his site.

I feel like I'm kind of sitting on a real opportunity now, so I want to make this site more than an infrequently updated blog. I'd like to add some other info about me, keep a running resume, a photo gallery, etc. BUT, I don't want to do it right now, as my computer is now packed away, and all I get are brief windows online at work.

So, I'll be back, and hopefully better.. =)

A Big Day for Geeks

Today is, as most people are aware, 06/06/06. End of the world, sign of the devil, blah blah blah..

In REALITY, it was a big release for two things that many people have their eyes on in the gaming community.

The first, as I said in yesterday's post, is Blackbolt's skin for XBMC, called MC360. (BTW, the trailer is up to 28,000 views at last check!)

The second is a dashboard release for the REAL Xbox 360, that among 123 other things adds downloading in the background and the ability to boot to the dash, even if a disc is in the tray.

I'm excited about both.

Also, tonight I will be watching the finale of the Apprentice. I didn't get to watch it last night, so tonight TiVo will be my friend. I'm picking Sean, because Lee is WEAK, but there's no telling who Trump will pick.

Welcome to anyone who stopped by from Blackbolt's site. I think it's considerate and HILARIOUS that he threw my site up there on his links page. I can't imagine I've got anything enticing you to come back, but thanks for stopping by!

MC360 Trailer

I put together a trailer for ActionCorpTV and Blackbolt & his team, featuring his skin that emulates a Xbox 360 dashboard on a modded Xbox running XBMC.

You can see it by:

-going to Blackbolt's site HERE
-visiting Actioncorp's site HERE
-OR by subscribing to ActionCorpTV through iTunes, by clicking HERE

The skin comes out on 06/06/06, because Blackbolt thought it would be funny.

Actioncorp Hits It Big(ger than it was)

Woo-hoo! Actioncorp TV, the internet show turned cable access show turned podcast that Craig, Chris Sean and I do is now on iTunes.

Click here to go directly to our iTunes page.

Stemming from posts coming from our forums, actioncorp.net, we talk about all kinds of tech topics. This latest episode is getting a little more play than normal since we got an exclusive preview build of MC360, a skin for Xbox Media Center that makes it look like the interface of an Xbox 360. Very cool!

Take a look when you get the chance, then post your comments! I'd love to know what you think..

This Site is CRAPPY, and Other Musings

I've got to fix this. It's boring as sin right now. I'm planning on a massive redesign here in the coming days. I hope I'll have a new look done this weekend, since I don't have a lot on my plate for those days.

Canyon's birthday is tomorrow. He'll be 13. I got him Karaoke Revolution for his new Xbox he got for Christmas.

Regan's visit has come and gone. We hung out, watched movies, went out to eat, made CDs and shopped. It was a good visit. She also tried on some wedding dresses, but I don't know how that went. But I do now know that David's Bridal is crazy. They made Regan give a BUNCH of ridiculous personal information just to TRY THE DRESSES ON. Crazy.

Craig bought a new Xbox, and will be modding it soon. We've been having fun with the new features of the Media Center for it, and are waiting for the new skin that looks like the Xbox 360's interface.

Oh yeah! And Spider-Man's got a new look.. or at least that's what Sony wants us to think for now. They posted this photo up last week:

I personally don't think it's the Symbiote that would eventually become Venom, because it looks like a black and white photo of the normal costume, with fabric, raised rubber and shiny eyepieces. I think it's just to throw us off the scent of what they're actually working on, whether it be the real symbiote or a different plotline/villian altogether. Man, I'm a dork...

Valentine's Eve Update

Man, I can't believe I haven't posted on this thing in this long. I've been doing other stuff and neglecting this site. Fortunately, it's only once in a blue moon that anyone even bothers coming to this site, so I'm in good shape there.

I've been dabbling in Xbox modding, and yes, I know it's 5 years old, but I'd never seen the point in risking my XBL account just to do it. Now that I have my 360, it's no longer an issue.

Other than that, I haven't been up to much. Li'l Sis is coming home this weekend for a brief visit. That should be fun. Perhaps I'll take her to Panera, as she did for me in JAX.

Valentine's Day is tomorrow. Woo-hoo! Lindsay & I will be hitting our new favorite, Crazy Buffet. They have coconut shrimp. That is GOOD. I love coconut shrimp... I've bored myself with my own story.

More boring soon.

HD Working, For the Most Part

I've gotten everything set up, and is now smooth as silk through the Extender in the Xbox 360. Right now, there's not a whole lot of content to be plucked from the air. I'm watching Conan right now. The biggest bummer is that I couldn't tune in my own station, WEHT. WFIE and WTVW came in just fine, but I can't get ABC in, which will TICK ME OFF, if I can't have my Alias & Lost in HD. I'll figure it out, though it may involve a new, stronger antenna.

The other bummer is though I have 13 hours of regular recording space, if I record in HD, I only have 2!

My friend Sean doesn't like my title banner. I hate that guy...

HDTV at Home!

I'm going home after work to set up my newest toy, an HD tuner for my Media Center.. which will in turn let me watch HD content on my shiny new 360. I'll post more tonight!
